Mummar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader, made explicit and “thuggish” threats to halt all {British} trade deals with Britain and harass embassy staff if Megrahi remained in jail.

This is cynical real-politick, business interests and the eternal quest for profit masquerading as justice.
